7 amazing reasons to eat beetroot

If you’ve only ever eaten beetroot sliced and pickled in vinegar, it’s time to give it another go… It's good for you in more ways that you can imagine!

1. It’ll help your sex life!

Did you know..? It was used as an aphrodisiac during Roman times and, in The Lupanare – the official brothel of Pompeii – there were pictures of it on the walls!

2. It’s a hangover cure

The pigment that gives beetroot its amazing colour is also an antioxidant, which not only helps your body to turn the alcohol into a less harmful substance, but also lets you get rid of it quicker, too!
Did you know..? Beetroot can turn your wee and poo pink. Don’t worry, though, it’s harmless!

3. It’ll make you feel happy

Beetroot contains a substance called tryptophan that relaxes your mind. It’s also found in chocolate – so no surprise, then, that it makes you feel good.

4. It helps to cure dandruff

If you boil beetroot in water and then massage the cooled water into your scalp each night, it’s said to work as an effective cure for dandruff. Though, if you’re blonde, it just might also turn your hair pink…

5. It makes great wine!
